At ImageFIRST, we may provide medical laundry services in the San Diego area, but we also love hearing stories about the small things that our associates do every day that affect the lives of their customers and the patients they serve. Today, we share with you a heartwarming story that comes from one of the ImageFIRST facility in North Carolina.
Jim Riggs, a Customer Advocate from ImageFIRST North Carolina, has been with the company for over a decade, and he truly takes the company’s Purpose, Values, and Customer Promise to heart. As a Customer Advocate, Jim’s role includes more than just delivering linen to his customers; he also helps the facilities he services to streamline their inventory management, making recommendations based on current need.
One day in July, Jim was making deliveries on his route, which included a stop at a breast center. That particular day, Jim had donned a company-issued pink polo shirt, emblazoned with a ribbon to show support for those who have been affected by breast cancer. Little did he know that his wardrobe choice would profoundly impact someone’s day.
As he was walking through the breast center to complete his delivery and carry out other tasks, one of the medical staff passing by complimented him on his pink apparel. When he turned around to thank her, she noticed the embroidered ribbon. She was absolutely thrilled to see the emblem, going on to say that she was impressed that the company supported important health issues such as breast cancer. For her, there was an additional emotional connection, as she herself was a breast cancer survivor.
At that moment, upon seeing the personal impact that something as small as an embroidered shirt could have on his customers, Jim couldn’t have been more proud of his role at ImageFIRST. Upon returning to the office at the conclusion of his day, he related the story to his Office Manager. She was deeply touched by hearing the wonderful little story, because she loved how it tied in to the company’s Purpose.
Both the Customer Advocate and customer were both positively affected by the experience. Meanwhile, the incident also impacted the community by promoting breast cancer awareness, and the facility – since it was a breast center!
Touching moments like this happen because of the many ImageFIRST associates like Jim who are passionate about their work and are always looking to make a difference in the lives of the people they serve.
